Israeli Knesset: Security intervenes as Ofer Cassif and Almog Cohen fight amid heated debate in Parliament

Israeli parliament security guards have moved in to separate politicians as debate rages over the country’s war in Gaza.

During a debate over whether to deport the families of suspected terrorists still residing in Israel, the verbal abuse turned physical as members stood up and attempted to attack their counterparts.

Two Israeli politicians had to be pulled away from each other during the argument as the situation quickly spiraled out of control.

The fight broke out during a Knesset committee hearing between the right-wing politician and far-left Rep. Ofer Cassif after Mr. Cassif argued with the mother of a fallen Forces soldier Israeli defense team who watched the proceedings from the public gallery.

Almog Cohen, a member of the ultra-conservative Otzma Yehudit party, had to be physically restrained after challenging Mr. Cassif.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir joined the fray, calling Mr Cassif a “terrorist” after Mr Cassif called the commission a “gathering of fascists”.

“Luckily you didn’t bring your pager,” retorted a politician according to the Times Of Israel, referring to the Israeli attack on Hezbollah which saw its fighters’ pagers explode.
