Vicki Gunvalson Will Never Forgive Bravo For Infamous ‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ Scene

Vicki Gunvalson of The Real Housewives of Orange Countybetter known as The OG of The OC, recently appeared in an episode of Vice’s documentary series “The Dark Side of Reality TV,” in which she reflected on learning of her mother’s death in front of the camera during the filming of season 10 of RHOC.

During the episode, Vicki was at a game night at Shannon Beador’s home while her daughter, Briana, tried to contact her.

“So, they called production (and my daughter) Briana had been calling, calling, calling, and they kept telling her, ‘Well, she’s filming right now, blah, blah, blah ” Vicki explained. But Briana insisted. “She said, ‘I need to talk to my mother right away.'” (Page six)

She remembers feeling strange that production “set up” a separate room in Shannon’s house with “lights and cameramen” apart from the other ladies, telling her that Briana was on the phone. In the scene, Vicki picks up the phone and immediately seems shocked, then starts screaming and crying in distress and falls to the ground, pleading with her daughter on the other end of the line that it’s not true. This is unfortunately one of the most famous scenes in the whole world. Real Housewives history.

“I was really upset that production had known for an hour and they hadn’t told me,” Vicki said. “They crossed the line and I think they should have taken me aside and said, ‘Your mother died.’ Talk to your daughter off camera. If I were a producer, that’s what I would have done. She said she wished they would let her “scream and cry” and “be angry” on her own, adding: “It was very, very traumatic.” I will never forgive Bravo for this.

It’s a different stance than the one she took on an episode of Watch What Happens Live in 2015, back when she was still on RHOC.

“Mom was not at the scene. It was just me hearing the news,” she said at the time. “It’s not like I walked up to my mom and she was lying on her bed, dead.” Well… of course.

She added that she wasn’t “upset” by the scene, explaining: “It’s part of my reality.” I lost my mother. I signed up to have all areas of my life exposed – the good and the bad… It’s not a moment that I feel right now, that I regret,”

Well, maybe losing that Bravo paycheck changed his tune. Vicki is the most infamous Bravolebrity of all time, and she didn’t take her demotion well.
