Kuwait maintains its right to cash payment

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 29: The Ministry of Trade and Industry has confirmed that the cash payment method is applicable to almost all commercial activities, except those for which a ministerial order has been issued prohibiting payment in cash, such as national employment offices, car sales, temporary employment. professional salons and pharmacies if the transaction amount exceeds 10 KD. The ministry reiterated that all other activities normally accept cash payments; emphasizing that no point of sale has the right to refuse payment in cash, as cash remains an essential part of the payment process in commercial activities.

It says merchants can offer consumers additional electronic payment methods besides cash payment, to ensure everyone’s convenience and facilitate business transactions.

Meanwhile, the ministry’s trade control department inspected the perfume exhibition to ensure that traders comply with laws and regulations prohibiting the marketing and promotion of goods and services outside the confines of shops and stalls.

This inspection aims to protect consumers from illegal promotions to ensure that sales and promotions are carried out in a professional manner without inconveniencing or putting pressure on consumers who visit kiosks and stores. This is in addition to the protection of consumer rights and strict compliance with laws to ensure a fair and safe business environment.
