Crime Stoppers launches public transit safety ad campaign – Winnipeg Free Press

Winnipeg Crime Stoppers has launched a bus bench advertising campaign aimed at promoting safety on the city’s transit system.

The initiative encourages passengers to report any criminal activity anonymously.

“Every transit rider deserves to feel safe during their commute,” Winnipeg Crime Stoppers President Robert MacKenzie said in a news release. “Our message is simple: if you see something, say it – and you will always remain anonymous. »

Winnipeg Crime Stoppers launched 40 years ago next month. The organization has received 4,059 tips this year as of Oct. 23, more than the 4,006 for all of 2023.

The organization said advice given to local Crime Stoppers – a registered charity overseen by a volunteer board of directors – helped solve 46 homicide cases over the years.
