2 young brothers wonder how to bury their entire family

THORNTON, Colo. (KDVR) — Two brothers who lost their entire family in a accident in Thornton on Saturday We hoped that what had happened was just a “nightmare”.

This was not the case.

Their father Francisco Diaz, mother Beatriz and two younger sisters Paola and Nataly were all killed in a crash in Thornton over the weekend. Police said one of the vehicles caught fire after being struck.

For two days, Daniel, 22, and Adam Diaz, 20, have been trying to be strong for each other.

“Right now it’s really hard for both of us because we’re very close to our family because we all lived together,” Daniel said.

The accident happened around 8 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Thornton Parkway and Washington Street.

“I was going to eat and that’s when I was going to go in to eat, I received a notification that my little sister Paola had been in an SOS detected in case of an accident,” said Daniel.

The Diaz brothers say police told them their parents were stopped at a red light when another vehicle hit their family’s car. The impact threw the family’s vehicle into the intersection where it was struck by another vehicle, the brothers said.

“It didn’t seem real. I thought it was a nightmare; not something that actually happened,” Adam said.

Paola, 15, was shy, loved going to restaurants and watching movies. Nataly, 10 years old, loved to dance and sing.

FOX31 reached out to Thornton Police for an update on this crash investigation but has not received a response. In a previous news release, the agency said the driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The Diaz brothers say they are currently working on funeral plans. A GoFundMe has been set up to help pay for funeral expenses.
