1) Check for updates

Check for updates in Edge. If an update is available, download and install it. Open Edge and click on the three dots at the top right. Then select Help & Feedback > About Microsoft Edge. After that, Edge will automatically check for updates and install them (if available). Restart Edge after installing the update and see if the problem persists.

Also, check Windows Update and install the same (if available).

2) Clear cache and cookies

Corrupted cache and cookies can be a possible cause of this issue. Therefore, we suggest you clear Edge cache and cookies and see if that helps. To do this, press the key Ctrl+Shift+Del keys to open the Delete browsing data window. Now, check the respective boxes for cookies and cache and then click Clear now.

3) Clear cookies for Copilot in Edge

If the problem persists, try deleting Copilot cookies in Edge. Follow the steps given below:

1. First, open Copilot in Edge.
2. Press the F12 function key to open Edge Developer Tools.
3. A pop-up window will appear on the right side for your confirmation. Click Open Development tools.
4. Select the Application tab from the top. If the tab is not visible, click the icon + and select Application.
5. Now expand it Cookies drop-down list on the left side.
6. There you will see the Copilot link. Right-click on it and select Clear.

Follow the same steps to clear cookies for Bing. First open Bing.com in Edge, then open Developer Tools. Now clear cookies for Bing.

Now check if you can use Copilot in Edge.

4) Disable extensions

Extensions installed in Edge could be causing this issue. To check this, disable all extensions and reload Copilot. See if it starts working this time. If this resolves the issue, your next step should be to identify the problematic extension. Activate extensions one by one and reload Copilot each time you activate an extension. This will help you identify the culprit. Once you find it, uninstall it.

5) Check tracking protection settings

The Tracking Prevention feature in Edge helps you protect your privacy by restricting which websites track your online activity. By default, it is set to Balanced. You can change it from Balanced to Basic or Strict. The Strict setting blocks the majority of trackers. However, this setting may cause some websites to malfunction.

Check the Tracking Protection setting. If it is set to Strict, change it to Balanced. The following steps will help you:

1. Open Edge settings.
2. Select Privacy, search and services on the left side.
3. Below Tracking Preventionselect Balance.

6) Create another profile

You can create multiple profiles in Edge. Create another profile and see if Copilot starts working. If this resolves the issue, you can continue using the new profile and delete the previous one.

Before deleting the previous profile, log in to this profile with your Microsoft account, so that all your bookmarks and extensions are saved in the cloud. This will help you restore all your bookmarks and extensions after signing in to the new profile with the same Microsoft account.

7) Reset edge

If none of the fixes mentioned above help you, reset Edge to default settings.

How to enable Copilot in Edge browser?

You don’t need to enable Copilot in Edge. It is integrated into Edge and enabled by default, provided you are using its latest version. However, if for some reason Copilot stops working in Edge, check Edge for updates.
