Impaired driving charges laid in crash on Highway 11

A Port Sydney woman has been arrested after two consecutive collisions in Huntsville.

Provincial police responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 11 northbound near Stephenson Road at 9:21 p.m. Wednesday.

Police discovered a car had hit a guardrail and bounced into a ditch before driving away.

While police were responding to this call, a second report was received of a vehicle striking a utility pole on South Mary Lake Road, two miles away.

Emergency services intervened with the police and a young woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police charged the 20-year-old Port Sydney woman with several impaired driving offenses, as well as failure to remain charged in the first collision.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge in December.
