NEC and Cisco launch private 5G solution for businesses, Telecom News, ET Telecom

NEW DELHI: Japanese IT integrator and telecom company NEC Corporation has collaborated with US telecom equipment maker Cisco to launch an end-to-end private 5G solution, as enterprises look for dedicated networks to achieve performance and security optimized for their needs.

The joint solution combines Cisco’s 5G Autonomous Core (SA) and a cloud control center with the validated radio network and systems integration services provided by NEC.

Cisco and NEC’s expertise will be key to implementing, maintaining and supporting private 5G networks for enterprise customers directly or by collaborating with telecommunications operators around the world, starting with Europe and the Middle East, according to a statement from NEC on Monday.

A demonstration facility and laboratory at NEC allows customers to test the solution end-to-end and validate multiple use cases to support the digital transformation of customers’ business operations in logistics, warehousing, event venues and airport management and operations.

“The needs for modernized architecture in 5G have gradually strengthened our partnership with Cisco, taking us to this next level,” said Hideyuki Ogata, Senior Professional Executive, Global Network Division, NEC. “Best-in-class solutions from Cisco and our ecosystem partners, combined with our world-class network integration capabilities, enable us to deliver compelling solutions to multiple operators and verticals across the globe.

“Our collaboration with NEC leverages our combined strengths to deliver industry-leading private 5G solutions to enterprises around the world,” said Masum Mir, senior vice president and general manager of Provider Mobility at Cisco. “Together with NEC, we are creating a powerful force to drive digital transformation and innovation across multiple sectors, and support the critical changes needed in network infrastructure to take the Internet into the next decade.”
