Hundreds enjoy fall frenzy in River Prairie Park

ALTOONA, Wis. (WEAU) – From princesses to superheroes to food, the Halloween spirit was in full force Sunday at River Prairie Park.

Each year, the City of Altoona Parks and Recreation Department, along with the Altoona Police and Fire Departments, host an annual Halloween celebration, inviting families to come and enjoy the park.

Thus, by strolling and interacting with different organizations, families were able to taste some sweets while enjoying the sunny day.

“It’s not just trick or treating. We have activities and you have to work for your candy. So, you know, play games, solve puzzles, do a little dance, things like that,” said Chad Duerkop, Altoona Parks and Recreation Director. “It’s just a great way for our staff or our parks and recreation department, our police department and our fire department to get out and interact in a positive way with the community.”

Duerkop said he hopes those who have left will come away with the feeling that there is a great community in the Chippewa Valley and that there are a variety of places to live socially, physically and mentally.
