BOOnion Depot’s 3rd year in St. Paul expands family experience

For one day only, Union Depot transforms into BOOnion Depot.

This is the event’s third year in the Lowertown St. Paul neighborhood, and organizers say it has officially become an annual event.

For the third year, they have expanded the family Halloween experience.

Organizers gave the first 2,000 kids through the doors a bag of BOOnion Depot Halloween candy.

You’ll also have the opportunity to meet and greet your favorite movie and TV characters, including those from the Disney universe.

As for guests, costumes are not required, but they are certainly recommended.

The event started on Sunday with a few thousand people already present from the first hour.

Maurina Rondeau, marketing and events manager for Union Depot, says free entertainment for families is a must, especially around the holidays.

“(It’s) free for everyone. We have a lot of different activities going on today. You can create craft stations, meet and greet Disney characters, a dance zone with DJ, face painting, balloon artists and a mini train ride,” Rondeau said. “We haven’t seen many free Halloween events for the public in St. Paul, so we wanted to create something magical for the community.”

If you missed Sunday’s event, next year’s festivities are already in the works with the goal of being even bigger than this year’s.
