An agreement in principle has been reached between the City of Lethbridge and more than 900 employees belonging to CUPE Local 70.

The union said negotiations with the city had been going on for 20 months and an agreement was reached Wednesday.

CUPE represents indoor and outdoor workers in a range of municipal services, including waste and recycling, water, parks and community services.

A local CUPE representative told CTV News that no further details on the agreement will be provided until they have a chance to present the agreement to their members.

This meeting is expected to take place the first week of November.
