A man has been hospitalized after being shot Saturday afternoon in Mississauga.

Peel police say they received a call about a shooting shortly before 1 p.m. in a square near the Dixie Road and Eglinton Avenue area.

Upon arrival, officers located a victim who had been shot. There was no immediate information on the extent of their injuries or their condition.

Police say the suspect(s) are no longer in the area. They did not disclose suspicious information.
