Jarry was sent back to Pittsburgh while the team was on the road in Western Canada this week as part of what the team called “working to capture his best game.”

“He gets individual time,” head coach Mike Sullivan said. “It’s just part of the process that we’ve put in place here over the next few years to try to help Tristan be the best he can be.”

Sullivan added that sending Jarry back to Pittsburgh to work with the team’s goaltending director, Jon Elkin, was planned from the start of the four-game stretch in the West.

As the team attempts to return Jarry to his previous star form, rookie goaltender Joel Blomqvist has won the majority of starts and has gone 2-3 with a .911 save percentage and a GAA. goals against 3.34 over those five starts. .

Against the Oilers on Friday night, despite the 4-0 loss, Blomqvist made 46 saves on 50 shots.

“He played wonderfully,” Sullivan said. “He was really good tonight. He kept us in the game.”

“You stay in the game pretty well when shots are coming at you all the time,” Blomqvist said after the game.

The Penguins are scheduled to face the Vancouver Canucks at 10 p.m. tonight, hoping to avoid going winless in their four-game Western Canada series. So far on this trip, they have lost games to the Winnipeg Jets, Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers.
