Dozens of people across the county are taking advantage of spooky season this year by going all out to create colorful and haunting displays outside their homes.

Here’s a round-up of some of the best decorated places we’ve spotted so far…

On Kitchener Avenue, Gravesendyou’ll encounter a grizzly bear scene featuring ghosts, tombstones, and even a body.

The idea came from Lauren Waterman, a mother of five children.

This is her first time putting on an exhibit like this and it took her five hours to make and place all the spooky pieces.

She added: “My kids called attention to me saying I never decorated for Halloween… so I tried too hard to make them and the other kids happy.

“I hope all the kids enjoy seeing it as much as I had creating it.”

Sticking with the mortal theme, Kirsty Weekes came up with the idea of ​​creating an illuminated graveyard. in the Avenue of Hope, Hadlow.

One of the headstones is labeled EM Balm – a reference to her unusual work as an embalmer, which she has done for 18 years.

“We do exhibitions every year, but they are always different,” said the 39-year-old.

“It’s my favorite time of year, so much so that my wedding was on October 29 a few years ago.

“We had a Halloween themed wedding reception.”

Not only does she love all things supernatural, but her family also participates in a biannual scarecrow competition in the village.

Some homes have even added interactive features for passersby – if they dare.

Rob Amey took things to the next level by build a horror coursenicknamed the Finches Rest Cemetery.

The alarm engineer staged grisly events outside his home in The Finches, Sittingbournesince 2017.

“What people can expect is scares, fun, screams and laughter,” the father of three said.

“We almost always have the laughs after the screams.

“It’s nice to hear because it shows people appreciate it, which makes it worth it for us.”

Although entry is free, donations are welcome and all profits will go to Kent’s autism charities.

It is open now, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until Halloween.

Another dedicated Halloweener is Kieron King, who lives in Lower Rainham Road in Gillingham.

He had already attracted national attention after a huge homemade spider took over the side of his house.

Last year, he transformed it again – this time into a magical castle – with cobwebs, smoke machines, projections and lights.

The father-of-five started the new build on Thursday (October 24) and shared a snapshot on his special Halloween Facebook page.

Although it’s still under construction, Kieron says the event will be even better than last year – with the addition of a maze.

Zoey Aldous was given the challenge of making a haunted house for her six-year-old daughter Elsa this spooky season.

The mother, who lives on Sycamore Road, Dartfordstarted adding decorations about two weeks ago.

She says she still has more things to release before Oct. 31 — including pumpkins once they’re carved.

“It took a long time to get to where it is now,” Zoey explained.

“This year we have the Grim Reaper under my window, lots more cobwebs and glow-in-the-dark skeletons.

“I’m still adding a few things to it. »

If you venture along Felborough Close to Chilhamyou can spot a strange inflatable skeleton towering among the colorful LED lights on the lawn.

Liam and his partner always take it upon themselves to try and outdo each other every year.

He added: “The village actually runs a treasure trail for children, where participants write their door number on the map so they can follow it. »
