Police are searching for the owners of the stolen items they recovered

Police have recovered dozens of valuable items, ranging from jewelry to bags, that were stolen during a series of break-ins in York Region, and arrested six people involved, some of whom were on the loose on deposit.

On Friday, York Regional Police announced the results of its Black and Blue Project, which investigates break-ins at homes in the area.

Four of the suspects were arrested on October 18. That day, they reportedly broke into two homes in Vaughan.

Investigators later executed five search warrants and arrested two additional suspects. During the search, they seized several items of clothing, jewelry and other valuable items.

“Investigators have been able to connect the defendants to 15 break-ins to date,” police said in a news release Friday.

The six suspects, three from Toronto and three from Vaughan, face a total of 51 charges. Police said three of them, Grigoli Bibilashvili, Aznori Charigodishvili and Irakli Ivanov, were on bail for offenses unrelated to burglary.

“Due to the amount of property recovered, investigators believe there are additional victims who have not yet come forward,” police said.

They have released photos of the recovered stolen items and are asking anyone whose residence may have been burglarized between May and October to review the images and contact police if any of the items belong to them.

Police said there would be a process to verify ownership.
