Three Gujarat residents killed in Canada car crash, 1 saved

Vadodara: Three young people from Gujarat living in Canada were among four killed in a road accident when the electric car they were traveling in caught fire after colliding with a pillar in Canada. The deceased included two brothers and sisters of Godhra.
The incident took place on Thursday evening (Indian time) when the group who lived together in Brampton was returning home after dinner. According to details from sources close to the family, the Tesla The electric car they were traveling in hit a pillar and caught fire.
According to sources, the driver of the Tesla car lost control of the vehicle while traveling at high speed and collided with a guardrail, then hit a concrete pillar before catching fire.
The deceased include Ketaba Gohil (29) and her brother Neelraj Gohil (25), both residents of Godhra, and Jayrajsinh Sisodia, who belonged to Borsad in Anand district. The other two people in the car included Zalak Patel, who was rescued, and a man who also died. According to family members of the victim, the car caught fire and the group was trapped inside. An explosion was also reported in the car.
Ketaba moved to Canada about six years ago and worked there as a laboratory technician. Neelraj moved with his sister in January to study. The siblings were distant relatives of Godhra BJP MP and former minister CK Raulji. Raulji’s son, Malavdeepsinh Raulji, said the group had gone to dinner to celebrate a birthday and was returning home when the accident occurred.
Jayrajsinh was the son of Bhadran College professor Harendrasinh Sisodia and the nephew of former Borsad MP Rajendrasinh Parmar. He recently obtained Canadian citizenship. Locals said the deceased often helped other young Gujaratis who aspired to move to Canada for study and work. As news of the accident spread, friends and relatives of the victim offered their condolences to Jayrajsinh’s family members.
Trevor Soares, a neighbor of the deceased Godhra siblings, said Ketaba could have saved himself but did not as his brother was injured and unable to get out of the car. “Another person who was on the ride rescued Zalak from the car. Even Ketaba was pulled out, but she came back to get her brother out. The explosion took place while she was near the car,” said Soares. He added that Jayrajsinh was planning to visit his parents in Gujarat in December.
