7 things – Stamps @ Riders

1. We

The Stampeders conclude the 2024 season with a matchup in Saskatchewan against the Roughriders on Saturday. Calgary has the chance to play spoilsport this week against its rival. A victory would prevent the Riders from clinching first place in the West. Last weekend, the Stamps lost 42-20 to Hamilton. Veteran cornerback Tre Roberson had an interception for a touchdown in the loss.

2. Them

The Riders have the chance to take first place in the West division with a victory, combined with a Winnipeg loss against Montreal on Saturday afternoon. This would be the first time since 2019 that the Riders have finished in first place.

3. Face to Face

This is the second and final regular season meeting between these two clubs. The Riders earned a 37-29 victory at McMahon Stadium in Week 16. Calgary will look to win their first road game of the season this week – they have never gone an entire CFL season without a win on the road.

4. Fast Facts

The Red and White are 6-1 in the regular season in Regina since Mosaic Stadium opened in 2017. Including the last three games played at the stadium known for most of its existence as Taylor Field, the Stamps are 9-1 in their last 10 regular season visits to Saskatchewan.

Tommy Stevens is two rushing touchdowns away from setting a Stamps quarterback record for rushing touchdowns in a single season. He currently has 10 this season and sits behind Doug Flutie and Henry Burris who are tied for the record with 11.

Thank you to our communications director Jean Lefebvre for sharing these facts with us!

5. Who is where

6. Players to watch

Stamps: DL Clarence Hicks: The rookie defensive lineman had two sacks last weekend against Hamilton, bringing his total to four this year. He also added two interceptions and 15 total tackles this season. On Wednesday, he was voted Calgary’s nominee for the Most Outstanding Rookie award.

Runners: DB Rolan Milligan Jr.: Milligan Jr. enters the final week of the regular season with a lot of “MOP” talk surrounding him. He has a league-leading eight interceptions, is second in the league in special teams tackles with 20 and also has 71 defensive tackles.

7. Quotable:

“Football can really reveal your character, especially in difficult times, so (we) have to bring the same intensity (every week), whether it’s a championship game or a meaningless game. ” -KG Cam judge as the last game of the season approaches.
