Arrest made for mental health condition in Jefferson County; Highway 30 is closed

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. – Authorities arrested a man Friday morning while responding to a reported mental health condition in Jefferson County.

Highway 30 is closed in both directions near House Springs as the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responds to a situation. There was tension between a person and the authorities on the highway for a short time.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said authorities “are looking to make a felony arrest for a man who stopped his vehicle on Highway 30 near Executive Parkway.”

Local traffic on eastbound Highway 30 is being diverted to Local Hillsboro Road. Motorists can then continue to Dulin Creek Road, Hillsboro House Springs Road, or continue northbound to Highway 21 to avoid the closure.

Westbound Traffic is being diverted at Scottsdale Road and directed to the eastbound lanes. Drivers can also use the Dulin Creek, Hillsboro House Springs or Highway 21 routes to bypass the closures.

Authorities are also investigating the driver in the stolen vehicle A levee broke into the water in Jefferson County Friday morning. There were two people inside the car, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. This is an incident unrelated to the stalemate in Jefferson County.

Additional information is limited at this time. FOX 2 will update as more information becomes available.
