How to watch the CFL divisional semifinals on TSN, TSN.ca

After 21 weeks of the regular season, the CFL Gray Cup playoffs are finally here with two divisional semifinals taking place on Saturday.

Let’s take a closer look at the matches and where you can watch them.

Chad Kelly

Coverage begins Saturday at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT on TSN1/4 and streaming on TSN.ca or on the TSN app.

The CFL playoffs begin with a clash between Ontario rivals the Ottawa Redblacks and the Toronto Argonauts.

The Argos will host the Eastern Semifinal from BMO Field after finishing second in the division, earning just one more win than the Rouge et Noir this season.

Toronto and Ottawa have split their two meetings this season, with the Argonauts winning the most recent meeting by a score of 38-31 on October 19.

The Rouge et Noir were on a five-game losing streak before beating the last-ranked Hamilton Tiger-Cats Friday in the season finale to enter the playoffs on a high note.

Ottawa has only won twice on the road this season and not since Aug. 15, when they beat the Calgary Stampeders, 31-29.

The Argonauts, meanwhile, lost their last game to the Edmonton Elks in overtime, but had won their previous three games, including four of five.

Here’s how the two sides compare:

10-8 Save 9-8-1
7-2 Home/away record 2-7
515 Points for 443
479 Points against 488

The matchup behind center should be intriguing.

Redblacks center Dru Brown ranked third in passing yards this season, with 3,959 yards along with 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 17 games in 2024, his first season in the nation’s capital.

After winning the 2023 CFL Most Valuable Player award, Argonauts quarterback Chad Kelly was suspended for the first nine games of this season for violating the league’s gender-based violence policy .

Upon his return, the 30-year-old has totaled 2,451 yards with 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions over the last nine games. Despite having an excellent regular season last year, Kelly slumped in the Eastern Final against the Montreal Alouettes with four interceptions.

Will Kelly and the Argonauts return to the East Finals or will Brown lead the Redblacks to their first playoff victory since 2018?

The winner will face the league-leading Alouettes, who won the Gray Cup a season ago, in the Eastern final.

Jerreth Sterns Saskatchewan Roughriders

Coverage begins Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT on TSN1/3 and streaming on TSN.ca or on the TSN app.

Playoff football returns to Regina as the Saskatchewan Roughriders host the British Columbia Lions at Mosaic Stadium in the Western Semi-Final.

The Riders haven’t made the playoffs since 2021, while the Lions lost the West semifinal to the Calgary Stampeders in each of the previous two seasons.

Saskatchewan and British Columbia each won nine games in 2024, but the Roughriders got a tie against the Redblacks in August, the difference being giving them a home playoff date.

This season, the Lions beat the Roughriders 35-20 at BC Place before the Riders returned the favor just two weeks ago, scoring a 39-8 victory at their home stadium to clinch second place in the ‘West.

Here’s how the two sides compare:

9-8-1 Save 9-9
5-4 Home/away record 3-6
478 Points for 448
434 Points against 439

The Roughriders and Lions appear to be fairly balanced on paper, but BC could have an X-factor in quarterback Vernon Adams Jr.

The 31-year-old began the 2024 season as the Lions’ starter, but injured his knee during a blowout loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Week 9. Adams Jr. was one of the best quarterbacks in the CFL before going down with his injury, throwing for 2,544 yards along with 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

BC then brought back Nathan Rourke, who won the 2022 CFL Most Outstanding Canadian Award as a member of the Lions, just over a week later after a stint in the NFL. Through nine games, Rourke didn’t look as sharp as he did two years ago, totaling 1,781 yards with four touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Rourke struggled again during BC’s massive loss to Saskatchewan on October 12 as head coach Rick Campbell decided to hand the reins back to Adams Jr. for the season finale against the Montreal Alouettes on October 19. 385 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions as well as a rushing touchdown.

Despite missing time due to injury, Trevor Harris was consistent behind center for the Roughriders, totaling 3,264 yards with 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 12 games.

The winner advances to the West Final against Zach Collaros and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
