Aunt Louise’s Farm in Monticello cleans up hurricane damage in time to offer fall festivities

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – With the fall season comes pumpkin patches and corn mazes, all of which can be found on a family farm in Monticello.

Farm owner Louise Jones said she grew up on the farm. The property belonged to his father before he passed it on to him. Jones said her husband and five sons now all work on the farm growing their own food and providing fun fall festivities for the community.

“I am very grateful to have been able to maintain the property and retain ownership. Now we can invite everyone, so that’s nice,” Jones said.

People should support local farms, farm owner says. This season, the community showed its support by helping the Jones family clean up after Hurricane Helene damaged part of the property.

It was a challenge the family faced a week before opening day. One of their largest animal structures was damaged in the storm. A goat died and a sheep was injured, according to Jones.

“A lot of emotions but also a lot of gratitude because everything is fine. My whole family is fine. We were able to clean up. Friends and family came to our rescue and helped us clean everything up and get everything ready,” Jones said.

They were able to prepare everything for the community to enjoy. The farm features a pumpkin patch, corn maze, pony rides, games and more.

The farm will be open until November 17 on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
