Priyanka Gandhi will begin campaigning in Wayanad today, deliver speech at meetings

After two decades of waiting to know when she will take the plunge, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is ready to enter the electoral fray and Lok Sabha, that is, if it is able to secure a victory in the elections. Wayanad bypasses polls.

With a constituency of nearly 43% Muslims, 13% Christians, around 10% tribals and 7% Dalits, Wayanad remains a Congress stronghold. Priyanka received a warm welcome last week when she arrived to submit her application.

Priyanka will launch her campaign in Hill constituency for two days from today. She will engage with voters and address party meetings and leaders.

Sharing her schedule, Priyanka said on her official X account, “The people of Wayanad have stood for truth, justice and democracy in the past and worked to strengthen the spirit of the Constitution. The people of Wayanad will continue to strengthen the Constitution and democracy and write a new chapter of development and progress. The zeal and enthusiasm of the people is worth seeing.

Her election campaign will begin on Monday at the Nilgiri College of Arts and Science, where she is expected to arrive around 11:20 am.

Priyanka Gandhi’s first meeting will be held at Meenangadi in Sulthan Bathery Assembly constituency, followed by a public meeting at Panamaram at Mananthavady Assembly headquarters at 2:30 p.m. She will end the day with a public meeting at Pozhuthana in Kalpetta Assembly constituency at 4:30 p.m., news agency PTI reported.

This is Priyanka’s second visit to the constituency since filing her nomination paper on October 22. The by-election was called after Rahul Gandhi left his seat following his victory in Rae Bareli in the recent Lok Sabha elections. The vote is expected to take place on November 13.

On Tuesday, Priyanka’s campaign will continue, starting with a meeting at 9:30 am in Thiruvambadi, followed by a rally in Engapuzha. His midday schedule includes meetings in Eranad at 12:30 p.m. and Therattammal later in the day. She will address party members at 3:00 p.m. in Wandoor and Mampad, concluding the day with a meeting in Nilambur at 4:30 p.m., before heading to Chungathara.

AICC general secretary KC Venugopal and other prominent UDF leaders are expected to join Priyanka at various events in the district.
