Kotb, 60, even joked that they ran into one of Bush Hager’s ex-boyfriends everywhere they went.

“Being with Jenna in Austin is incredible,” Kotb said of Bush Hager, who was previously married. The duo even met up with all of Bush Hager’s friends who were there to watch the show.

“I think the great thing about Jenna is that her best friends are here and they show up, too,” Kotb said before a photo of the group appeared on the screen. “We were at the bar the other night, all our high school friends came.”

Kotb also revealed that they returned to Austin High School, where Bush Hager attended high school from 1996 to 2000, when his father was Governor of Texas.

“Jenna was crying; being home was the best thing,” Kotb said.

“If you watch the show, I know you’ll be surprised that I cried,” Bush Hager said. “But if any of you haven’t gone back to your high school, go back, because there was something about walking into this gym on Fridays where we had our pep rallies for Texas football, which is what this is. “It was such a strange feeling to be in a place that shaped me so much that I couldn’t stand it.”

Kotb added that they also visited the co-host’s former teachers, and Bush Hager yelled at them, joking, “I’m sorry for my behavior.”
