A young man has died after being stabbed and abandoned on a street in Corio, near Geelong, early Sunday morning.

Detectives from the Homicide Squad are investigating after the 20-year-old man was found with a potentially fatal stab wound in Little Malop Street at around 5.30am.

The Corio man was taken to hospital but later died from his injuries.

Victoria Police investigators believe the man was injured during an altercation nearby.

“It is understood that two other men involved in the altercation have presented themselves to hospital and are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

“The exact circumstances of the incident are under investigation and inquiries continue.”
