It’s Halloween season, the most wonderful time to be scared.

With The shiny playing at the Roxy Theater Friday night, CBC asked some people in Saskatoon what do they think is the scariest movie of all time?

Robert Johnson chosen The shinygiving it a 7/10 on the horror meter.

“Bright is the movie I remember that scared me the most. And I was young anyway and that kept its impact on me,” Johnson said. “When I see it now, Nicholson’s performance is so over-the-top it’s almost funny. But if you see it when you’re a 10-year-old kid, it’s incredibly scary,” he said.

Johnson said he also appreciated The bottom with Demi Moore and Requiem for a dream, which isn’t that scary from a conventional point of view, but he said the drug use and addiction in this movie was definitely scary.

Noah Rossmo agreed that The shiny is at the top of the list of horror films, with its isolation and madness, but he said the scariest film of all time was Sinister, giving it a 10/10. He also mentioned the TV show The Haunting of Hill House, giving it a rating of 9/10.

“Sinisterit’s very scary, it’s ghostly, but it also has to do with serial killer stuff and a tv show Hill House is very scary,” he said.

Thomas Lamothe said he wanted to watch Terrifying 3even if his father is not very enthusiastic about this choice of film.

“People come out of the theater and like throw up and stuff…my friends and I are definitely going to watch all the new horror movies,” Lamothe said.

A Nightmare on Elm Street, Smile, The Autopsy of Jane Doe and the new Beetle juice Beetle juice the film also had some fans.
