Last day for nominations in Nova Scotia election campaign

Today is the last day for nominations for the provincial election campaign in Nova Scotia.

Under the province’s Elections Act, nominations must be closed 20 days before polling day, November 26.

The Progressive Conservatives confirmed in a statement last week that they would have a full slate of 55 candidates.

The NDP and Liberals confirmed Tuesday that they would have a full list of candidates, although there was no immediate word from the Green Party.

Liberal Leader Zach Churchill has a housing announcement planned in Halifax, while NDP Leader Claudia Chender is scheduled to hold an event today in the Halifax area.

Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Houston will campaign in suburban Halifax Regional Municipality.

At the time of the dissolution, the Progressive Conservatives held 34 seats of the 55 seats in the Legislative Assembly, the Liberals held 14, the NDP had six, and there was one independent.
