Saskatchewan police watchdog responds to medical incident after RCMP arrest

Saskatchewan’s police surveillance team, the Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT), was deployed to Fort Qu’Appelle after a person suffered a medical issue while was in custody Friday.

According to an article published on X by SIRT, the individual experienced medical distress while “housed in a cell” following an arrest by the RCMP.

SIRT said more information would be provided, but did not say when.

SIRT is an independent, public-led unit that investigates serious incidents involving police officers in Saskatchewan.
