    Trump and Megyn Kelly reunited. Some delighted, others confused

    Megyn Kelly And Donald Trump kissed at his last Rally in Pennsylvania Monday evening, and then she is proud supported him for president in an enthusiastic speech.

    Wait, what?

    It’s a sentence you wouldn’t expect to read if you were paying attention in the run-up to the 2016 election.

    Some take advantage of this moment as a lesson in pardon — even though those most excited about her overthrow are probably the same ones who turned against her years ago.

    The varied reactions to the speech speak to the polarization of this country on Election Day. It’s also a good reminder that while forgiveness can be healthy, you risk alienating others in the process.

    “We should all learn from this”

    “Beautiful! This is a testament to how far we have come on this journey together and you are making the women of this country proud,” one commenter wrote on Instagram. “Thank you for being a courageous voice…your speech tonight was incredible.” Another added: “What a long way you’ve come! May this be a unifying message for us all! Great speech, Megyn!!”

    One person added: “This is an incredible picture of two people who were able to see past their differences and forgive. We should all learn from this. I love you both.”

    Others are scratching their heads, like the feminists who supported Kelly after Trump’s past comments: “You have betrayed everyone you have supported and many of them have come to your defense. You are a disgrace.” we wrote about.

    “Hmmmm, don’t you remember what he said/did about you in 2015?” » asked one commenter. That sentiment was echoed by many who questioned whether Trump deserved Kelly’s pardon.

    What we can learn about forgiveness

    But it is common for people make amends in difficult times — although experts note that coming together despite differences doesn’t mean a relationship has magically healed itself overnight.

    “You can completely forgive someone without wanting to rebuild a relationship with them or have them in your life,” TM Robinson-Mosleyconsulting psychologist, previously told USA TODAY. This may have been such a moment for Kelly in a consequential election.

    Always, pardon is never obligatory. “There’s this idea that we have to forgive in order to move forward, we have to forgive, because we’re supposed to forgive and people expect that forgiveness,” Robinson-Mosley says.

    If this lack of forgiveness takes up a lot of space and you feel resentful, that’s when it becomes a problem.

    Maybe Kelly needed to take a stand – even if it meant upsetting those who had welcomed her before.
