Vancouver traffic advisory: expect delays on the Cambie Bridge

Motorists should expect delays on the Cambie Bridge due to planned works.

The City of Vancouver will implement alternating lane closures with at least one lane open in each direction at all times on Tuesday, November 5 and Wednesday. Pedestrians and cyclists should also be careful of detours.

According to the notice, “the bridge’s bicycle and pedestrian lanes may be closed on one side at a time, diverting all users to the existing bicycle and pedestrian lane on the opposite side.”

Commuters should plan and “expect delays” and consider taking an alternate route or using public transportation.

Work on the Cambie Bridge will continue until spring 2025

The planned work is part of a project starting this fall aimed at repairing the joints of the bridge deck. The work will continue until spring 2025 and residents should expect “traffic impacts, reduced speeds and detours for pedestrians and cyclists,” the city says.

Work will take place Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., with extended hours as needed (including weekends).

The City notes that the nature of the work could cause noise. However, teams will strive to minimize impacts.
