Walmart worker found dead in oven honored at store parking lot vigil

Weeks after 19-year-old Walmart employee Gursimran Kaur was found dead At a walk-in oven in Halifax, a candlelight vigil in honor of the late teen was held in the store’s parking lot on November 3.

The Nova Scotia Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration issued a stop work order on October 22 for the store’s bakery, while a Walmart spokesperson previously confirmed to E! News the store will remain closed indefinitely as local authorities continue to investigate the Oct. 19 tragedy.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe organized by the Maritime Sikh Society has raised nearly $200,000 for Kaur’s family, including her mother who, according to the page, worked alongside her at Walmart and was the one who found her girl in the oven. The two men left India to settle in Canada about two years ago, according to NBC News.

The fundraiser, which has since been discontinued, was also aimed at covering travel expenses for Kaur’s father and brother, who were in India at the time of her death. According to Radio-Canada Newsboth have since arrived in Canada.
