Bullet hits school bus full of students in upstate New York

East Irondequoit, NY — At least one bullet hit a school bus full of students Monday morning in upstate New York.

An East Irondequoit bus was carrying 10 high school students to school around 7:40 a.m. when a projectile struck the side windows, New York State Police said. The “possible” shooting happened on State Route 104 near Portland Ave in East Irondequoit, police said.

No one was injured.

The bus took the students to the Aquin Institute of Rochestera private Catholic school in Rochester, East Irondequoit Superintendent Mary E. Grow said in a statement. The bullet shattered two windows of the bus, she said.

“We are relieved to report that all students are safe and unharmed,” Grow said. “The safety of our students and bus drivers is our top priority and we are taking all necessary measures to ensure their well-being.”

The students were brought to Aquinas shortly after the incident and met with school counselors, Aquinas officials said in a statement shared with News10NBC.

Troopers asked anyone with information about the incident to call (585) 398-4100 or email [email protected].
