Manitoba Weather: Sunshine returns to parts of Manitoba

The sun returned to southern Manitoba and northwestern Ontario on Tuesday.

Temperatures continue to climb a few degrees above normal, with most areas expecting maximum temperatures between 6°C and 8°C.

The normal maximum temperature in Winnipeg for this time of year is 2°C, but temperatures in the city are expected to peak around 7°C today. The maximum forecast temperature for Brandon is 8°C in the sun.

As a bonus, winds are also light in the south today.

A low pressure system over the northernmost areas of the province will bring snow and blowing snow to Churchill. Temperatures will drop to around -3°C with strong, gusty northwest winds.

Shamattawa and Lake Tadoule will likely experience snow showers. They also cannot be excluded at Brochet, Gillam or Island Lake. Otherwise, Island Lake will see a mix of sun and clouds this afternoon.

Speaking of which, a pleasant mix of sun and clouds is in store for much of the northwest, including Flin Flon, The Pas and Norway House.

This evening, clouds will begin to form in the south and will persist into Wednesday.

A low pressure system over southeastern Alberta will bring snow to southern Saskatchewan today and possible snow showers overnight to parts of southwestern Manitoba closer to the provincial border, including including Virden.

Precipitation is expected to miss Winnipeg tomorrow despite cloudy conditions.

The sun returns on Thursday.
