The Toronto Blue Jays make several roster changes as the team loses its former trade acquisition

With general manager meetings underway in Texas, the Toronto Blue Jays brought their roster into compliance with a series of moves Monday.

According to the team on social media:

LIST MOVES:

RHP Alek Manoah, RHP Jordan Romano, OF Daulton Varsho and INF Will Wagner reinstated from 60-day IL

RHP Michael Petersen claimed off waivers from Marlins

INF Luis De Los Santos claimed off waivers by Mets

LHP Génesis Cabrera cleared waivers and elected free agency

RHP Luis Frías cleared waivers and is now a free agent

RHP Emmanuel Ramirez DFA

Once Monday afternoon arrived, all players who were on the 60-day injured list had to be re-listed on the 40-man roster, which explains the moves of Manoah, Wagner, Romano and Varsho. As a result, you see that several players had to be left off the 40-man roster.

By losing Cabrera, the Jays lose a former trade acquisition from the St. Louis Cardinals. The 28-year-old Dominican Republic native is a powerful southpaw who went 3-3 last season with a 3.59 ERA.

Ramirez pitched for the Miami Marlins this season, going 0-1 with a 6.97 ERA.

As for Petersen, claimed by the Jays: he made 16 appearances in total this season between the Dodgers and Marlins. He went 3-1 with a 5.95 ERA. He had a 4.76 ERA for Miami in five appearances.

THE Blue Jays finished last in the American League East this season, with a 74-88 record.
