DELMAR, Del. – A veteran permanent makeup artist from Delaware is using her profession to advocate for those who need more than just their natural features enhanced. But he needs a confidence boost due to illnesses such as cancer and alopecia.

“I’ve had clients cry because they loved their results, which brings me so much joy,” says Brittany White, owner of Balde to Beauty.

Brittany White is a professional makeup artist who has a passion for using her blade as a tool to give confidence to those who might need a boost. On paper, she offers her clients realistic haircuts using different techniques, but her “why” is what sets her apart. “I lost my grandmother to breast cancer, so it was an extra boost for me to do something like this to help others gain confidence in what they’re lacking, and that just inspired me to start and not stop.”

White tells us her business isn’t just about permanent makeup, it’s also about giving persistent medical treatments – like hair loss due to cancer or alopecia – a space and a way to feel beautiful and confident. “When I had my very first patient and she told me that I was here because I lost my eyebrows to cancer, it just hit me like, okay , I’m about to make her feel completely stunned when she has this mirror in her hands.” White adds: “It makes me feel complete as a person, knowing that I make others completely happy with themselves. »

For clients like Deangelo Bagwell, who battles alopecia, his journey to White has been eye-opening. He tells us: “I wore a hat because I was losing my eyebrows, so I lacked self-confidence. Your hair falls out, you can’t stop your hair from falling out, you go to the doctor and he gives you pills and everything, but it doesn’t give you the results you wanted. He goes on to say: “It was an emotional thing, I didn’t want to go out as much but it had an effect on my life and my confidence.”

Even though the idea of permanent makeup wasn’t necessarily the goal of Deangelo White’s safe space, coupled with the end results gave it a new perspective. “I’ve started mixing with people again and I feel more open to talking about it because I know it’s not just me going through this, it’s other people going through it,” Bagwell says.

Although White is focused on running her business, it’s her customer base that she says is her driving factor, and she wants to be known for more than just permanent makeup. “It’s very comforting to know that I feel like I’m fulfilling my purpose in life and it’s just awesome, I love it,” White says.

The idea is to find a way to feel confident no matter what you’re going through. “You are losing your hair and you can’t stop it, there is nothing wrong with you, your health is good but it’s just that you have alopecia.” He goes on to say, “Anything that can get you back to normal, I would say take that step, anything that can give you back your confidence. »

Meanwhile, White tells us, she hopes others can do the same. “It’s a huge deal but I feel like if I’m willing to help you, don’t be ashamed to come sit in my chair because I’m trying to make you look the best.”
