David Cronenberg’s THE FLY is getting a follow-up movie and it’s not a remake – GeekTyrant

There is a new The fly film in development which takes place in the same universe as David Cronenbergthe classic horror film from 1986. 20th Century Studios would like to clarify that this is not a remake.

The fly the film should be written and directed by Nikyatu Jusu and Chernin Entertainment Pierre Tchernine And Jenno garnish are ready to produce.

No details have been shared about what the story will entail for this new film, but I’m curious to see what the plan is.

The Fly is based on George Langelaan’s 1957 short story, first adapted in 1958 starring Vincent Price.

The 1986 version features Geena Davis And Jeff Goldblum and it follows the story of eccentric scientist Seth Brundle, who invents a teleportation device.

Brundle, played by Goldblum, accidentally fuses his DNA with that of a fly during an experiment gone wrong. As he transforms, he gradually loses his humanity, both physically and mentally, and becomes a grotesque hybrid creature.

The film captures the growing horror of his condition, with Brundle’s love interest, journalist Veronica Quaife, helplessly watching his descent into monstrosity.

The fly is a famous film due to its innovative approach to body horror, a hallmark of Cronenberg’s work. The film uses grotesque and practical effects to show Brundle’s horrific metamorphosis, pushing the boundaries of what audiences had seen in films of the time.

Jusu is currently working on an untitled horror project for Universal/Monkeypaw and a Night of the Living Dead following.
