Key player ruled out during Nuggets vs Raptors game

The Denver Nuggets were already shorthanded against the Toronto Raptors on Monday. The Nuggets had already lost Jamal Murray, who is progressing since his concussion protocol and was seen practicing on the court earlier in the day.

While it was great to see Murray progress, the Nuggets were unfortunately hit by the loss of another key player in tonight’s game. It has been revealed that Aaron Gordon will not return to tonight’s action against the Raptors.

Via @Nuggets: “Aaron Gordon will not return for tonight’s game against the Raptors.”

Aaron Gordon was on the injury report earlier today with inflammation in his right calf and it appears the same calf is currently further aggravated. Gordon averaged 17.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 48/33/69 in the six games he played this season.

Gordon only played four minutes tonight and scored three points before leaving the court. Early reports were doubtful he would return, but Denver staff have now confirmed he will not be returning.

The Nuggets will have to rely a little more on their bench and their MVP Nikola Jokic with the loss of Gordon and Murray. These are the times when Christian Braun, Michael Porter Jr. and Russell Westbrook need to step up.
