Chhath Puja 2024: Know traffic advisories, route changes and parking rules in Gaya and Patna

Preparations in Gaya and Patna for Chhath Mahaparva are complete and in anticipation of large crowds of devotees, police in these cities have made significant changes to the city’s traffic system and parking rules.

The grand festival of Chhath Mahaparva began on Tuesday with Nahay Khay. This four-day ritual will end on November 8.

Preparations in Gaya district for Chhath Mahaparva are complete and in anticipation of large crowds of devotees, Gaya police have made significant changes to the city’s traffic system.

Gaya SSP Ashish Bharti has issued a traffic plan stating that entry of all large vehicles into Gaya town will be strictly prohibited from November 7 at 12 noon to November 8 at 12 noon.

Ahead of the Chhath festival in 2024, the following traffic rules will be in effect from November 7 to 8:

GB road: Entry of all vehicles will be strictly prohibited.

Chand Chaura East: Entry of all vehicles will be prohibited.

Bengali Ashram in Vishnupad: Entry of all vehicles will be prohibited.

Road from Bata Mor to Tikari: Entry of all vehicles, except two-wheelers, will be prohibited.

Koyribadi Mor to Vishnupad: Entry of all vehicles will be prohibited. Vehicles can be parked at Gaya District School or Dharm Sabha Bhawan.

Narayani Bridge towards Vishnupad Police Station: Entry of all vehicles will be prohibited. Vehicles can be parked near the bypass bridge.

To facilitate smooth flow of traffic during Chhath Puja celebrations, a single route system will be implemented in Gaya Town for vehicles traveling to Kenduy Ghat from Sikadia Mor. The designated route will pass through Gate No. 5 Paharpur, Ghughritand and then join the bypass.

After the conclusion of Chhath Puja, all vehicles departing from Kenduy Ghat will enter Gaya town via a designated return route. This route will start from Sikadia Mor and pass through Rajapur Mor, Node-2, Node-1, finally reaching Domuhaan.

Vehicles coming from other areas of Gaya Town towards Kenduy Ghat will be directed via Sikadia Mor, Gewal Bigha Bend, Shahmir Takiya Bend, Mangalagauri Bend, Madanpur Bend and Ghughritand Bypass, leading to the Polytechnic College. Chhath devotees and those traveling to Pita Maheshwar Ghat from Ramna Road will have a direct route via Mital Mosaic.

Meanwhile, Patna Traffic Police has released a traffic plan and route to reach Chhath Ghats, outlining parking arrangements for the convenience of devotees. The traffic system in Patna will witness changes on November 7 and 8.

Park your vehicle here at your Chhath Ghat in Patna

Patipul Ghat, Digha Ghat, Shiva Ghat and Minar Ghat: Vehicles can enter and exit these ghats from Rupaspur Canal Road via JP Setu Approach Road. Devotees arriving from Ashoka Rajpath below Atal Path and Digha Post Office Road can park their vehicles in the vacant space under the railway overbridge, from Surya Mandir Chohatta to Patipul underpass, in the empty space at l ‘west. From there, devotees can reach the ghat on foot. Additionally, parking will be available in the empty space east of Surya Mandir (Chouhatta).

Gate number 93 (Digha) Ghat Entry will be permitted through gate number 93 and exit through gate number 92. Parking for these vehicles will be available at designated locations on both sides of the North and South Paths adjacent to Ganga Path.

Gates number 88 and 83 Ghat Vehicles heading towards these ghats can enter directly from Ashoka Rajpath and pass through the Ganga Path underpass. Parking will be available at marked locations on the north side of Ganga Path.

Kurji Ghat Vehicles traveling to this ghat must enter through Kurji turn and park in the designated parking area north of JP Ganga Path, accessible through the JP Ganga Path underpass.

Pahelwan Ghat, Bansghat: Vehicles traveling to these ghats can pass directly from Ashoka Rajpath to the parking lot via the road starting from the JP Ganga Path underpass in the north. Parking will be available in designated spaces on the left and right sides of the road.

Collectorate Ghat, Mahendu Ghat: Vehicles can turn right (east) from the JP Ganga Path underpass in front of the Commissioner’s Office. Parking will be available in the designated space on the west side of the road near the ghat, accessible under JP Ganga Road.

Alternatively, vehicles can be parked inside Gandhi Maidan and devotees can walk up to the ghat. Vehicles can also be parked on college grounds:

Patna College: Vehicles traveling to Ashoka Rajpath from Bari Path must pass through Khajanchi Road and park at Patna College Maidan. Devotees can then walk to the ghat.

College of Sciences: All vehicles arriving from Annie Besant Road, Ramna Road and Kunkun Singh Lane can park at Science College. From here people can walk to the ghats.
