Jason Kelce Answers Shattered Phone From Fan Who Screamed Slurs About Travis

Over the weekend, former Philadelphia Eagles center and current NFL Analyst Jason Kelce was involved in an incident involving a fan throwing a homophobic slur at his brother. The fan in question apparently said: “Kelce, how does it feel to know that your brother is interested in dating? Taylor Swift?”

The question did not go down well with Jason, who was seen taking and then breaking the person’s phone. The incident was relayed on social media and immediately went viral.

The video above shows an alleged Penn State student shouting the slur, causing Kelce to grab the phone and immediately throw it to the ground. Considering the former NFL Stud is in the spotlight a lot, especially since he is a part of the show “Monday Night Countdown”, he addressed the issue before the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

While speaking solemnly to the camera, Kelce says:

“I think everyone saw on social media everything that happened this week. Look, I’m not happy with anything that happened. I’m not proud of it. In a moment burning, I chose to greet hatred with hatred I just I don’t think it’s a productive thing I really don’t think it leads to a discourse and that’s the right way to go. In that moment, I fell to a level that I shouldn’t have. Ultimately, I want to live my life, I try to live my life according to the golden rule.

That’s what I was always taught. I try to treat people with decency and respect. I will continue to do it, even if I failed this week. I’m going to do that in the future…I think we have a game to focus on, and I don’t think this is the ideal time to go into more detail.”

Kelce acknowledged that his response to the incident was not the correct way to proceed. Certainly, anyone would have been upset at that point, but the Super Bowl champion should have taken the higher road in this case.

Travis and Jason are clearly very close to each other, and the fan throwing such a horrible thing caused Jason to react in a very angry way. It will be interesting to see if he details the situation in more detail in his “New Heights” podcast.
