Feds seize drugs, guns and more from detention center

Federal agencies have recently seized drugs, electronics and weapons from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where Diddy is incarcerated. The Federal Bureau of Prisons led the operationwhich aimed to combat the violence plaguing the Brooklyn premises.

Diddy (real name Sean Combs) has been incarcerated at MDC since September. Two detainees were killed a few months before his arrival.

“Several inmates at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center allegedly orchestrated a series of separate violent assaults, including the murders of their fellow inmates, Uriel Whyte and Edwin Cordero,” said James E. Dennehy of the FBI. “Even though this federal prison houses dangerous pre-trial detainees, order and safety must remain paramount. Waiting for possible criminal charges is not a justified justification for subjecting a detained person to unnecessary attacks.

Diddy was charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. His trial is expected to begin in May 2025.

The music mogul’s legal team requested a gag order before his trial. Diddy’s lawyers specifically targeted a named witness Courtney Burgesswho claimed to have seen several videos of sexual assaults. Diddy’s lawyers said the videos did not exist.

“These stories quickly spread through the media and created the impression that such videos exist, which is false, and that the government is actually crediting his sensational claims, which is deeply damaging,” they said. “While the witness and his lawyer rushed to spread false and uncontrolled allegations in the media, they avoided subjecting their claims to verification through the legal process.

“This witness – who never met Mr. Combs – claims to have received recordings from an anonymous individual (who was later shot and killed) as well as a purported memoir from the deceased mother of Mr. Combs’ children who has since been denounced. as false. By treating these ridiculous claims as anything but a pathetic extortion scheme, the government is fueling the fire of online conspiracy theories and making it impossible for Mr. Combs to get a fair trial.

Prosecutors have rebuffed Diddy’s calls for a silence order. They accused Diddy of trying to “divert» his criminal case while he leads numerous prosecutions.
