Sean O’Malley’s Coach Reacts to Backlash Over Khamzat Chimaev’s Take on Bo Nickal

Tim Welch responds to negativity on Bo Nickal’s take on Khamzat Chimaev

Tim Welch took the “TimboSugaShow” to share the context behind her social media post, and why it’s not as scandalous as some make it out to be (via MMAmania.com).

“I tweeted, ‘Bo Nickal might be our only hope.’ (People) were excited about it. I wasn’t talking about Bo Nickal right now,” Welch said on YouTube. “(I) feel like Bo Nickal could get beat up by Khamzat right now.”

Welch went on to say that as Nickal gains more experience, he could become the only 185-pounder to give Chimaev problems.

“But in a year and a half, if Bo continues to develop his striking, he will be a guy that could compete with his wrestling in the middleweight division,” Welch continued.

Nickal has had a stellar start to his professional MMA career. He went 6-0 with just one fight after the first round. He will have a strong test against 26-fight veteran Paul Craig. The two are expected to meet at Madison Square Garden in New York. The fight is scheduled for the UFC 309 card on November 16.
