Spain issues highest weather warning after more rain hits Barcelona airport | World News

Parts of Spain were hit by more torrential torrents rain just days after flash floods devastated the Valence region killing more than 200 people.

More heavy rain falls on Barcelona, ​​Catalonia, prompting Spaniards to weather report service to issue a red alert.

It comes as Valencia residents continue to search for missing people swept away by floods and clear mud and debris that has submerged towns and villages.

Footage shows how Barcelona’s El Prat Airport turned into a sea after heavy rain submerged the runway and flooded the terminal.

Passengers were seen walking through the soggy terminal holding their bags.

A runway has been closed at El Prat airport due to flooding which is devastating arriving and departing services, according to Flightradar24.

The forecaster has now warned that torrential rain is causing “extreme danger” along the north-east coast as more rain is expected.

Roads and railways were submerged by the deluge across Catalonia.

The A-27 motorway was covered by a landslide following heavy rains.

AEMET, the Spanish meteorological service, asked the population to be “very careful” and only travel if absolutely necessary.

Salvador Illa, president of the Catalan government, thanked the emergency services on his social networks for their “rapid action” to return the C-32 highway to “normal” when it reopened.

He called for “extreme caution on the road” and avoiding unnecessary travel.

The country continues to recover from the impact of one of Spain’s worst natural disasters following the Valencia floods.

Furious survivors criticized the government for the relief response, saying it had been too slow and they had been left to fend for themselves.

Angry people threw mud and shouted at King Felipe VI when he visited a flooded district of Valencia.

The king was forced to hide while mounted police tried to calm the crowd.
