Russia launches nearly 10 times more Shahed drones every year, Zelensky says

Russian forces are launching around ten times more Shahed-type drones against Ukraine than last fall, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on November 4.

Moscow multiplies drones strikes in Kyiv and the rest of the country, while reducing the use of more powerful and more difficult to intercept cruise and ballistic missiles.

Russia launched more than 2,000 attack drones against Ukraine in October, beating the previous record set in September by almost 700, according to the Ukrainian General Staff.

“We must fully counter them,” Zelensky said following the meeting with senior Ukrainian officials earlier today.

Anatoly Kryvonozhko, acting Aviation commander, briefed the president on countering Russian air attacks, strengthening air defense and mobile fire groups and developing new solutions to combat guided bombs.

According to authorities, the Russian drones arrived in waves and flew at low altitudes, probably in an attempt to spot weaknesses in Ukraine’s air defense.

Over the past week, Russia has attacked Ukraine with more than 900 guided aerial bombs, nearly 500 Shahed Dronesand around 30 missiles, Zelensky said.

Partners’ artillery supplies to Ukraine increased, Zelensky says

“We are seeing an increase in the supply of defense assistance. The situation with artillery has improved,” President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on Telegram after a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s staff.
