Stolen spaniel reunited with owners after eight years

A stolen dog has been reunited with its owners after eight years.

Daisy, a one-year-old cocker spaniel, and three other hunting dogs were abducted from garden kennels at their home in Mole Valley, Surrey, in 2016.

Surrey Police were alerted on Tuesday after someone attempted to update Daisy’s microchip.

PC Laura Rowley, of the Mole Valley Safer Neighborhood Team, said there was “not a dry eye in the house” when the dog was reunited with its owners.

She added: “She recognized them immediately and stuck to them like glue.”

Officers discovered Daisy had been rehomed “in good faith” by new owners who were unaware of the theft.

One of the other stolen dogs was killed after being hit by a car while trying to escape, police said.

The other two, Tilly, a black working cocker spaniel, and Storm, a white and spotted Patterdale terrier, were never located.

Officers have appealed for anyone with information on her whereabouts to come forward.
