Director Todd Phillips suggested an idea to improve the movie-going experience: completely eliminate commercials before movies. Recently, the Joker: Folie à Deux director joined other Hollywood filmmakers, including Sean Baker, Sofia Coppola and George Miller, to discuss the importance of the theatrical experience in the face of competition from streaming services. Phillips stressed that theaters must implement crucial changes to attract audiences who prefer to watch movies at home. He believes that removing ads before screenings could significantly improve the overall experience for moviegoers.

Speaking to Empire, Todd Phillips said: “Stop showing commercials before movies. We paid for our tickets, we can’t wait to be there. Advertisements tend to suck the energy out of the room. »

George Miller pointed out that people naturally like to come together and he believes that most cinemas do their best to create a good experience. Meanwhile, Everything Everywhere All At Once director Daniel Scheinert believes that cinemas should be more than just places to watch movies, they should be fun, social places where people can have fun. He feels excited when audiences dress up for movies like Barbie or dance during RRR.

Recently, Todd Phillips released Joker: Folie à Deux, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga. Unfortunately, the film was a disappointment at the box office, as many viewers were unhappy with its musical sequences, which seemed different from the original concept. Despite negative feedback from audiences, filmmaker Quentin Tarantino praised Todd’s vision and said he enjoyed the film.

While appearing on the Bret Easton Ellis Podcast, Quentin said: “I really, really liked it, really, really liked it. Hugely, and I went to see it hoping to be impressed by the film’s production. But I thought it would be a standalone intellectual exercise that ultimately wouldn’t work as a movie, but I would enjoy it for what it is. And I’m just nihilistic enough to enjoy a movie that doesn’t really work as a movie or feels to some extent like a big giant mess. I really liked the musical sequences. I really let myself get caught up. I thought the more mundane the songs were, the better they were. »

According to Box Office Mojo, Joker: Folie à Deux managed to earn $201 million worldwide.
