Today is one of the coldest starts this fall

Many areas are in the 20s this morning and even towns and villages along the coast are in the 30s. It’s one of the coldest starts to the day this fall, but temperatures will warm up to to the 50s this afternoon with sunshine mixing with the clouds. The clouds announce much milder air which will accompany us the rest of the week.

November usually brings a few warm days, but this year we may have at least three days where temperatures reach 70 or higher. We already had one and I see two more: one on Tuesday, election day and a Wednesday.

In addition to mild air, we will experience gusty winds. Speeds could exceed 20 miles per hour at times on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Tuesday morning the temperature will start around 40 degrees, but Wednesday morning it will start near 60 degrees making for an incredibly mild start to the day and the reason readings could return to the upper 70s during the post- noon.

As I’ve been mentioning for the past few months, if you have newly planted trees or shrubs, it’s important to give them water at least once a week until rainfall returns to normal.

It will be cooler on Thursday, but still above average for temperatures in the mid 60s. Friday will remain dry and sunny, with seasonal highs around 60°. A quick look at the weekend shows Saturday with highs approaching 60° and plenty of sunshine.

One thing to watch for is a weather system bringing clouds later Sunday and perhaps a few showers for Veterans Day.

Southern New England: A cold start will result in a milder finish with clouds mixing with sunshine and temperatures into the mid-50s. The weather will be milder on Tuesday, Election Day, with readings approaching the 70s.

Western Mass.: Look for a mix of clouds and sun during your Monday with temperatures in the lower 50s. Sunny and dry weather continues Tuesday with highs in the mid 60s.

Cape and Islands: Expect temperatures in the 50s this afternoon with partly to mostly sunny skies. Readings will approach or exceed 60 on Election Day on Tuesday with sunshine.

Northern New England: Clouds dominate the day with cool temperatures only in the mid to upper 40s. Expect milder conditions Tuesday with highs around 60 degrees and more sunshine.
