Temporary repair of collapsed sewer pipe on Herbert Avenue

A road will be partially closed to allow temporary repairs to a collapsed sewer pipe.

Wessex Water said the damaged pipeline under Ringwood Road in Poole, Dorset, will be replaced with a temporary pipeline ready for full repairs at a later date.

The company said this was to avoid worsening traffic in the city.

To allow work to be carried out, there will be a one-day lane closure on Herbert Avenue towards Ringwood Road on Monday.

The pipe will be installed on the pavement from Herbert Avenue, outside Horizon Honda Poole, to the point of collapse at Ringwood Road.

A Wessex Water spokesperson said: “Due to other roadworks taking place nearby, we have chosen to install a temporary sewer pipe rather than completing the full repair immediately, which will require a full closure. southbound on a section of Ringwood Road.

“This will help avoid a worsening of traffic in the area while other road works are completed, particularly in the run-up to Christmas.”

They said Wessex Water would liaise with BCP council to agree a date for the permanent repair.
