Ruud Van Nistelrooy reflects on Manchester United’s historic draw against Chelsea

Manchester United vs Chelsea: Manchester United drew 1-1 against Chelsea at home on Matchday 10 of the 2024/25 Premier League, and with their latest stalemate, both teams now extend their unique league record.

The ‘Manchester United v Chelsea’ match produced the most draws in Premier League history (27) and with the result, Chelsea are now 4th in the table, ahead of rivals Arsenal on goal difference.

“It’s a rollercoaster of emotions – it’s been almost a full week where so much has happened. My job was to steady the ship. The players responded really well, it’s something to build on “It’s special to be back in town and at the club,” said Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

Enzo Maresca reflects on his team’s struggles against Manchester United

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca said he was “pleased” with his side’s performance in Sunday’s 1-1 draw, and that they were “aware of the difficulties Manchester United could have”.

“We knew it was a difficult match for many reasons. We scored, we came back. After the goal we tried to win. We are happy because we knew how difficult it would be. The players ( of Man Utd) want to prove that they are “It’s good enough, a new manager with different ideas, so we had to prepare differently,” said Enzo Maresca.

Moises Caicedo had an unforgettable evening at Old Trafford, putting in a sublime performance, including his thunderous volley which ultimately proved to be Chelsea’s decisive goal.

The Ecuador midfielder now has the most combined tackles and interceptions (52) of any player in the Premier League this season.
