Northern agricultural conference to resume in 2026

THE Northern Ontario Agricultural Innovation Alliance (NOFIA) is taking a break from its annual 2025 agriculture conference as it shifts into planning mode for its next strategic plan.

For the past six years, participants from Northern Ontario’s agriculture and agri-food industries have gathered for two days in Sudbury to share knowledge, learn best practices and network with others through guest presentations , round tables and a professional lounge.

(An abbreviated version of the conference was posted online in 2021 and 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.)

Past topics of conversation included Pressing veterinary shortage in Ontariothe advantages of introducing robotics to a farmthe value of growing ethnic vegetables in the North, and the role of women in agriculture.

This will be the first year since 2019 that NOFIA will not host this popular event, which attracts participants from across Northern Ontario and beyond.

But dates have already been set for the conference’s return in 2026.

The event will take place once again in Sudbury on February 10-11, with more details to be announced closer to the date.

Those interested in being notified once planning begins are encouraged to email NOFIA at [email protected].

Based in Temiskaming, NOFIA is a non-profit organization whose mandate is to develop strategies and partnerships to ensure the advancement of agricultural research and innovation in Northern Ontario.
