Mo Salah sends cryptic exit message that he will ‘never forget’ Liverpool ‘no matter what’

Mohamed Salah has sent a cryptic message to Liverpool fans on social media, declaring that “no matter what happens” he will “never forget what a goal feels like at Anfield”.

Salah is one of three Liverpool icons out of contract at the end of the season. He, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all expected to leave the club at the same time.

Each of them would leave a true club icon, with Salah having 220 goals and 96 assists to his name, a Premier League trophy – and eighth place on the all-time Premier League goalscoring list – as well as a Champions League, an FA Cup and two League Cups with the Reds.

There is no indication that his contract will be renewed, despite pressure from the Saudi Pro League for his signature, and Salah has done little to quell rumors that he will leave with a recent post on Instagram.

He said: “This club belongs to the top of the table. Nothing less. All teams win matches but there is only one champion in the end. This is what we want.

“Thank you for your support last night. Whatever happens, I will never forget what it means to score at Anfield.

Carragher is convinced Salah will stay

Prior to this post, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher suggested he was almost certain Salah and Van Dijk would stay with the Reds, as they won’t find a bigger team to turn to and could break records at their current club.

“I’m pretty confident the two older guys will sign because I think they’re probably at a stage in their career now where it’s difficult to move to a club better than Liverpool.

“For me, the only two clubs when I was in a dressing room where players would want to play would be the Spanish giants, but I don’t really see it now for Virgil and Mo. And I think Mo Salah will be desperate to beat that many records as possible in Liverpool.

“When you’re looking for that last contract, it’s not really about the money, it’s maybe the length of the contract for these guys as they get a little bit older.”

Liverpool recap: Salah replacements sought

But Liverpool are working on the condition that Salah is not there next season, given his contract has not yet been renewed.

They are interested in both Karim Adeyemi and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia amid uncertainty surrounding their superstar’s contract.

Chelsea, however, will give them competition for first, while the The Napoli man is said to be on the radar of new Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim.

Meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold could be fired by Liverpool before his contract ends, with the club knowing they still have a chance to make money off him before then.

With Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal out for some time after an anterior cruciate ligament injury, the La Liga giants are going after Alexander-Arnold now rather than this summer, and it is believed Liverpool will punish a fine of 50 million euros (£42 million, $54.3). m) go out.
