Sport for Life announced new partnerships with Acadia University’s School of Kinesiology and Cambrian College’s Fitness and Health Promotion Program, “marking an important milestone in the advancement of physical literacy education.

The new collaborations represent an opportunity to enhance student training, provide valuable tools for future employment and empower communities by developing accomplished physical literacy leaders, said Sport for Life in a press release.

Sport for Life is a non-profit organization whose objective is to improve the quality of sport and physical activity in Canada. Its partnerships with Cambrian and Acadia are free to post-secondary institutions, providing them with free workshop content and resources that professors can offer to students as part of their courses.

For students wishing to obtain official Sport for Life certification, additional elements are required. Each certification includes two eLearning courses, two workshops and two quizzes. Since students already benefit from the workshops as part of their curriculum, they simply need to take the classes and quizzes online at the Sport for Life campus at a discounted rate.

Sport for Life also offers Quality Sport Leader certification, an educational program focused on creating exceptional sport experiences in communities. The certification is designed to develop and support “good people, good places and good programs.”

Sports leaders, recreation managers and sports funders can create and deliver exceptional sports experiences in their communities through this certification, said Sport for Life. It gives them the tools to design developmentally appropriate activities that promote fun, inclusion and skill development.
