I am a New Yorker who visited Jackson Hole, Wyoming; What surprised me

  • Jackson Hole, Wyoming, is a billionaire hotspot next to Grand Teton National Park.
  • I recently visited this ultra-rich mountain town and was surprised by the airport and the accommodations.
  • I didn’t expect to be so immersed in nature without sacrificing comfort and luxury.

I grew up in the tri-state area, spent a few years in Texas, then returned to the East Coast to start life in New York.

That was more than five years ago, and if I’ve learned anything about life in this grimy metropolis, it’s that sometimes you need a break.

Enter Jackson Hole, Wyoming – the 60-mile-long valley bordering Grand Teton National Park. This section of Teton County including the towns of Jackson, Teton Village, Wilson and others has a population of fewer than 11,000. The top 1% of these residents earn an average of $16 million per year, or 132 times more than the rest, making Jackson Hole the largest. unequal place in the United States in terms of income, according to the Economic Policy Institute.

It’s basically a luxurious mountain town where billionaires and celebrities like Kanye West and the Kardashians are hiding from the fast-paced lifestyle that dominates America’s cities.

I visited Wyoming’s wealthy enclave for the first time in September, when I needed to get away from my bustling hometown.

I got the nature getaway I expected, but I was surprised by many aspects of the area, from the luxury airport to the mountain mansions.
